wish for a rainbow
sun shines and clouds gather at day,
Moon brightens and stars sparkle at night,
But I want to be the sky.
For i wish the rainbow to beautify my life.
The rain may pour heavily
The wind may blow hard,
The clouds may be darker.
But there is a rainbow to brighten my day again.
If i were a bird
I would fly over the rainbow,
and get the colours all over me,
And have the wings of rainbow.
I would still run for the rainbow.
That makes me smile.
I would count the colours and paint on my shirt.
And I will become the rainbow forever.

Answer:

Ans. 1) The poet wished to be sky as whenever rain comes, a rainbow lights up. Just as a rainbow appears after all the heavy raining, the presences of the rainbow enlightens all. So if the poet represents sky, then no matter the obstacles he/she faces there would always be something to cheer him/her in the end.

Ans. 2) If the poet was a bird he/she would fly over the rainbow, get all the colours over him/her, and he/she wishes the rainbow's colours on their wings and feathers.

Ans. 3) The rainbow holds a significant role in the poem as throughout it the poet expresses how the rainbow can bring a smile on our faces no matter who we are and what conditions we are going through. The rainbow resembles all the good things in the poet's life that has made his/her day happy in the end.
