It was a mixture of joy and shivering experience for the seven students of Class VIII and a teacher of Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Educare, Chromepet, who participated in Himalaya trekking recently. They visited the Holy Himalayan Mountains via Rishikesh, Haridwar, Kedarnath, and Badrinath and the expedition was organised by the Institute of Sathya Sai Education (ISSE), Mumbai and the trekking training was carried out by the Mountaineering and Adventure Institute of Rajasthan, Jaipur. Students of Sai Schools from Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Utranjal and Punjab participated.
All the students assembled at Sri Sathya Sai Vidya Vihar, New Delhi, and visited important places such as Qutub - Minar, Lotus Temple and India Gate.
They travelled from New Delhi to Sri Sathya Sai School at Rishikesh and had trekking training, which included artificial river crossing, sling rippling , building tents and also jungle trekking. They visited Neelakanta Mahadev temple by 12 km trekking and also trekked 14 km from Gowri Kund to Kedarnath.
