Dear Robert,
I am extremely sorry about the loss of your wife. I cherish the time Denise and I
were able to spend with you and Mary. Mary was such a fun-loving person, and I
always appreciated her wry sense of humour. I remember how she prided herself on
baking the perfect coconut cake from scratch—she insisted that my apple crumble
could not best her specialty dessert. (She was right.)
I know this is a difficult time for you, but I trust that you will gather support from
friends and family. I have always admired your closeness to your in-laws, and I hope
they will offer you comfort. If you would like, Denise and I could pop by this week
with some homemade dinners to save you having to think about shopping or
cooking at this time. Please let me know if there is anything else we can do to help.
I wish you all the best during this time and beyond.
With sympathy,
