With a neat labelled diagram, explain
how the formation of rainbow occurs.
Answers
Rainbows are formed by the dispersion of light & reflection (not total internal reflection) from drops of water. The rainbow color sequence can be analyzed by drawing a ray diagram of the refraction of sunlight inside water drops.
Answer:
Solution :
(1) The formation of a rainbow in the sky is a combined result of refraction, dispersion, internal reflection and again refraction of sunlight by water droplets present in the atmosphere after it
has rained.
Formation :-
when a beam of light enters the prism, it gets refracted ans splits into its seven constituent colours. This splitting of light ray occurs because of the different angles of bending for each other . Hence, each colour passing through the prism bends at different angles with respect to the incident beam. This gives rise to the formation of the colour spectrum.
