no. it can't be said that displacement is always less than distance travelled. for a body moving horizontally to a place the displacement and distance travelled are equal.

displacement is always less than or equal to the distance travelled , so ut can't be greater than the distance if they are the same direction then their magnitude will be equal however if they have different directions then displacement will be less than the distance
