Answer:

The ease of communicating through the internet and messaging services has indeed reduced face to face communication drastically. This is true between friends, colleagues and even family members.

Unfortunately, many reasons that have caused this increase in digital communication will continue to increase the popularity of digital communication. For instance, factors like privacy, convenience, no time restraints and the ability to communicate unpleasant things from behind the device have dehumanized communication altogether.

In fact, America is witnessing a trend wherein young teenagers are unable to handle face to face communication without discomfort. This is because they have lost touch with facial and hand gestures. Since they use their devices for most of their communication, they understand only the language of messaging and not the subtle clues that one can learn from real body language.

Given how technology is advancing and these disturbing trends, it will not be long before face to face communication will be something only the older generation believes in.
