Shylock says that there is no basic difference between a Jew and a Christian as they all are human beings. They feed on the same food, suffer from the same disease, healed by the same means and warmed and cooled by the same summer and winter. Like the Christian the Jews too bleed when pricked, laugh when tickled, and die when poisoned. So if they are equal in every respect, they should be equal in matters of revenge too. So Shakespeare in this act tries to show through this speech that racism is only a matter created and maintained by humans over silly matters but basically they all follow the same living.
