refractive index of water is 1.33 and benzene is 1.50
: refractive index of benzene w.r.t to water = 1.50/1.33
= 1.13

Answer:

The refractive index of benzene with respect to water is 1.127.

Explanation:

We will use the following equation to solve this question,

\mu_b_w=\frac{\mu_b}{\mu_w}             (1)

Where,

\mu_b_w=relative refractive index of benzene with respect to water

\mu_b=refractive index of benzene

\mu_w=refractive index of water

From the question we have,

\mu_w=1.33

\mu_b=1.50

By putting the value of μw and μb in equation (1) we get;

\mu_b_w=\frac{1.50}{1.33}

\mu_b_w=1.127

Hence, the refractive index of benzene with respect to water is 1.127.
