According to Mahatma Gandhi , it is not enough for a moral act to have been done with a good intention , but it should have been done without compulsion .

According to him, morality is internal to each individual . If someone enforce morality through external forces, socially, by emotional or physical way, it is not a moral act.

He said that there is no morality in my act, if I fear to rise up early that I will be late in my office . This means that for an act to be moral it has to be free from fear and compulsion. A moral action should be free from fear or compulsion so, there should be no self interest behind the act .
