Solution:

Modes of respiration in animals is aerobic and anaerobic.

Aerobic is the type of respiration which requires oxygen.

In this process, glucose is broken into energy, carbon dioxide and water.

Anaerobic respiration on the other hand does not require oxygen to break the glucose molecules into energy and other forms.

Here is your answer -

• RESPIRATION •

The physiochemical process by which oxidation of glucose occurs to produce energy is known as Respiration.

• Types of Respiration •

1. Aerobic Respiration - When complete oxidation of food occurs in presence of oxygen and energy released then such type of respiration is known as Aerobic Respiration. During aerobic respiration high amount of energy released. It occurs in higher organisms.

C₆H₁₂O₆ + 6O₂ ---------> 6CO₂ + 6H₂O + 32ATP

2. Anaerobic Respiration - When incomplete oxidation of food occurs in absence of oxygen and energy released then such type of respiration is known as Anaerobic Respiration. It mostly occurs lower organisms. During Anaerobic Respiration food oxidises into alcohol or organic acids.

C₆H₁₂O₆ -------------> 2C₂H₅OH / C₃H₆H₃ + 2CO₂ + 2ATP
