Above images are the figures of concave and convex mirror. Click on the image to get the full figures.

CONCAVE MIRROR

If the inner side of the spherical mirror is reflecting, then it is called a concave mirror. Concave mirrors can produce both real and virtual images. Concave mirrors are commonly used in torches, headlightsof vehicles to get powerful and parallel beams of light.

CONVEX MIRROR

If the outer side of the spherical mirror is reflecting, then it is called a convex mirror. Convex mirrors can only produce virtual images. Convex mirrors are used for cars because they provide an upright image and a wider field of view as they are curved outwards. They are also used in making lenses of sunglasses, magnifying glass.
