To demonstrate the pattern of magnetic field lines around a straight current carrying conductor we will need a straight wire, a paper, a battery and some iron dust.

Make a tiny hole on the paper and let the wire go through the hole. Keep the paper horizontal and the wire vertical.

Spread the iron dust on the paper evenly around the wire.

Connect the two ends of the wire to the battery.

Circular patterns will be developed on the iron dust. This shows that magnetic field lines due to a straight current carrying conductor are circular.
