Material required - 3 Iron nails , Copper sulphate solution , iron sulphate solution , test tubes
Pre-requisite knowledge -
Reactivity series
(Iron is more reactive than Copper)
Procedure -
1. Take solutions in separate test tubes.
2. Dip Iron nails in each .
3. And keep 1 aside for comparison.
Observations-
1. Copper is deposited on iron nail and the solution of Copper sulphate turns green and becomes iron sulphate.
2. Iron nail gets no change and colour of Iron sulphate solution is also unaffected.
Result - Iron displaces copper from its salt solution as it is more reactive.
