Rate of evaporation based on surface area

Activity;
1. Take a cup and a saucer
2. pour water in both cup ad saucer.
3. Keep them undisturbed for a time.

What will you observe now is the rate of evaporation is more in saucer comparing the cup.This is because of saucer having open surface whereas cup doesn't have. So evaporation rate is more in saucer than cup.

Hope this helps you.
