With the help of an electrochemical series, how will you construct an electrochemical
cell and calculate its standard EMF. Explain using,
(a)Pb and Ag as electrodes
(b) Zn and Ag as electrodes
Given E
o
Pb2+/Pb=-0.13V,E
o
Ag+/Ag=0.80V and E
0
Zn2+/Zn=-0.76V

Answer: The electrochemical series is built up by arranging various redox equilibria in order of their standard electrode potentials (redox potentials). The most negative E° values are placed at the top of the electrochemical series, and the most positive at the bottom.
