An allele is basically a pair of alternative traits for a same characteristics present in the same position on the two genes.
For example- One gene has a trait or alleleĀ of brown hair while another gene or alleleĀ has a trait of blonde hair. Now the upcoming offspring will have its hair color that of the dominant trait or allele i.e., the child will have brown hair.
