Alleles are the alternative form of a gene present on homologous chromosomes. . For example a gene responsible for eye colour can have two alleles one is for black and other is for brown.

An allele is basically a pair of alternative traits for a same characteristics present in the same position on the two genes.

For example- One gene has a trait or allele of brown hair while another gene or allele  has a trait of blonde hair. Now the upcoming offspring will have its hair color that of the dominant trait or allele i.e., the child will have brown hair.

Hope i helped u:)
