when a base reacts with a non metallic oxide it produces salt and hydrogen gas.
for example, carbon dioxide is a non metallic oxide, when it is dissolved in water it produces carbonic acid.so, when base reacts with a non metallic oxide, both neutralises each other and thus results in producing of salt and water.
