Firstly,an apparatus of electrolytic cell is taken containing two platinum electrodes that is cathode and anode with adjusting screws. Water mixed with dilute sulphuric acid is taken in the cell. When electric current is allowed to passed in the solution,Hydrogen gas is evolved through cathode electrode and oxygen gas is also evolved through anode electrode.Thus, water is elctrolysed.
