The seven different colours can be recombined in the following way to give white light :
A triangular prism is placed on its base and another similar prism is placed along its side in inverted position on its vertex. so that the refracting surface is in the opposite direction. When a beam of white light is allowed to fall on the first prism then a ordinary white light is obtained on the screen placed behind the second prism The first prism splits the white light into 7 colours and second prism recombines into white light.
