No need of diagram by writing this answer. Human somatic cell contains 46 chromosome . Unlike other cell in the body gametes carry only one set of 33 chromosomes . therefore each gamate carry only one chromosome. An egg has only X chromosome. And sperm has x or y chromosome.




If the gamate from father has x chromosome then the baby will be girl with xx combination of chromosome. and if the ganates from the father has y chromosome then baby will be boy with combination of xy chromosomes . I hope it will be helpful to you.
