Asoka-The Great worked with great zeal to spread his Dhamma but at the same time he was tolerant towards other religions and sects. He loved every human being and did not imposed his Dhamma on his people.

Following are the evidences which shows that Asoka didn't imposed his religion on his people :

1.  Major Rock Edict III shows the practical instructions to generosity to Brahmans.

2.  Major Rock Edict VII shows the practical instructions of King to tolerance for all religions - “To foster one’s own sect, depreciating the others out of affection for one’s own, to exalt its merit, is to do the worst harm to one’s own sect.”

3.  Major Rock Edict XII directed and determined request for tolerance among different religious sects.
