Variation in shape

The shape of a perticular cell depends on the specific function it performs.

Example- Muscle cell and nerve cell.

Variation in size

Cell size may vary from a micrometre to a few centimetres.

Example-The smallest cells are bacteria , which generally range in size from 0.1 to 0.5 micrometre. The largest cell is the egg of ostrich, which is 170 millimetre diameter.

Variation in number

Organisms may be composed of one cell or many cells.

Example- Amoeba and Human beings
