With the help of examples write the difference between inherited and aquired traits
Answers
Acquired traits are acquired or attained during the lifetime of an individual. These cannot be passed to the next generation, since these characteristics are due to changes in somatic cells of the body. These changes do not bring about any alteration in the genes of the germ cells of the organism.Examples, include amputation, foot binding, and genital cutting. The reasons for these changes can be rite of passage, Like other acquired characteristics, body modification results in permanent physiological changes that cannot be passed on to offspring genetically alone.
When a trait is directed by the reproductive cells of the body, it can be passed on to the next generation. Such a trait is called an inherited trait. Here the genes in the germ cells of the organism are involved. In humans, eye color is an example of an inherited characteristic: an individual might inherit the "brown-eye trait" from one of the parents. Inherited traits are controlled by genes and the complete set of genes within an organism's genome is called its genotype.
