On 21st June, the Sun is directly overhead the Tropic of Cancer and this condition is known as June solstice.

At the North Pole, the Sun rises above the horizon on March equinox, i.e. 20th March and day remains for 6 months until it sets on September solstice, i.e. 22nd September.
