solids

in solids the molecules are tightly packed due to the strong attractive force.

particles cannot move much they only vibrate at a fixed position.

a solid at a given temp has a definite volume and shape

liquids

in liquids molecules are not so close together. the molecule slightly touch.

they do not have such a strong attractive force as in solids

particles have some freedom and can move around eachother. often collide

a liquid will take up any shape and has a fixed volume

gas

in gas molecules are far appart they have no force of attraction

particles move freely and at random in all the space available

collide less often than liquids
