This is because their are two types of traits in a human being.

i) Dominant traits.

ii) Recessive traits.

Explanation:

When the traits are passed through one generation to another generation the traits which passes through the generation are the dominant one. eg. TALLand SHORT are two types of traits. In which TALL is the dominant one. If the genes are pass in a generation there are four possible outcome.

In other words the traits which are dominated on the weaker traits are able to show in the next generation. Like Tall is the dominant one that's why shortness were not able to show in the next generation.
