Answer:

Its electronic configuration is 1s2, 2s2, where two electrons are present in the valence shell. During the formation of BeCl2, beryllium atom bonds with two chlorine atoms via single covalent bonds. The number of electron pairs around the central atom will be two. No lone pair is found in the molecule.

Name of the Molecule: Beryllium Dichloride

Hybridization Type: sp

Explanation:

the valency of Be is 2 because it have two valency electrons in their outer most cell

and, the valency of cl is 1 because it have one electron in their outer most cell(2,8,7)

so when we react Be with Cl

Be(1 valency)+ cl (2 valency)------BeCl2

because cl attract with two Be electrons

i hope this is helpful for you☺
