there are two types of traits known:
1.inherited traits
2.acquired traits
inherited traits are the traits which are given to us in our gene such as blue eyes, blonde hair etc. but acquired traits are those which we learn and acquire such good cricket skills, swimming etc. these traits do not pass onto the next generation because these traits are not hereditary, we don't get them in genes(chromosomes). That's why these genes do not pass on to the next genes.
for example: in an experiment, three mice were taken and the tails of all the three mice were cut. After that these mice were crossbred. The next progeny was not tailless but had a full grown tail without any deformity as this was an acquired trait and not an inherited one.
These traits are known as acquired traits.
