With the increase in the fuel price, the price of consumer products increases because oil is an

essential component of the industrial and the manufacturing sectors, also petrol and diesel is used

for the transportation of goods. There are two statements which based on petrol and CNG gas

given below

 Statement 1 : Every four months the price of petrol increases at the rate of Rs 7 per litre.

Taking price of petrol in December 2019 as x and the price of petrol in December 2020

as y

 Statement 2: Due to continuous rise in the petrol price people are shifting towards CNG

Whose price increases at the rate of Rs 5 per litre in a year.

So give answer of the question by reading the above statements.

1. According to statement 1,the linear equation showing amount spent on petrol in December

2020 is

A) x = y+21 B) x= 7-y C) y=x+21 D) x =7+y

2. If x =3,find the value of y

A) 9 B) 24 C) 4 D) 10

3. According to statement 2, the linear equation taking price of CNG in December 2019 as ‘a’

and in December 2020 as ‘b’ is

A) b= a-5 B) a= b-5 C) b=a+5 D) 2b=a+5

4. If a= 6, Then find the value of b

A)10 B)11 C)12 D)8

5. How many solutions does a linear equation in two variables have.

A) 1 B) 2 C) infinitely many D) no solution
