Solution:

Properties of angles formed by transversal line  with two parallel lines :

• Corresponding angles are congruent.  

• Alternate angles are congruent.  ( Interiors & Exterior  both )  

• Interior angles are supplementary. ( adds up to 180°)

y and 4x  are Alternate Exterior angles

=> y = 4x

y & x from linear pair

=> y + x = 180°

=> 4x + x = 180°

=> 5x =  180°

=> x = 36°

y = 4x  = 4 * 36 = 144°

value of Y  is  144°
