In parliamentary systems, the executive is responsible to the elected legislature, i.e. must maintain the confidence of the legislature (or one part of it, if bicameral). Members of the executive (ministers), are also members of the legislature, and hence play an important part in both the writing and enforcing of law.

In parliamentary system the executive is selected from the political party or coalition of political party that hold a majority of seats in (one house) of the Legislature. A prime minister leads the executive and appoints other members of the cabinet. Therefore executive is a collective body in parliamentary framework.
