In the chapter “The Last Lesson” written by Alphonse Daudet, the author was very much afraid to go to the school that day. He was actually late for his French class and he had to face his teacher who would question him on participles that day.
He wanted to miss school but he overcomes a lot to actually reach to his class. But once he reached, he found a different environment than what he expected. Everything was as weird and gloomy.

His teacher explains to them that this would be their last French class as an order had passed from Berlin that only German is to be taught. So then, the author starts to understand the importance of the French class and he regretted that he never paid enough attention to many classes.

He actually understood that day’s class very much good. It was not as difficult as it actually seemed. Though he couldn’t speak out when he gets his turn, he really understands what he had missed until now.
