Pradhan is a ministerial title conferred in South East Asia. In Sanskrit etymology ‘Pradhan’ means a leader or chief. He is a local body head mostly of Gram Panchayat.

He works along with the fifty other Gram Panchayat members and mostly he acts as a channel between Government officers and village community. Gram Panchayats takes care of minor irrigation, health advisory boards, running of schools.  

Pradhan is the chief of the Gram Panchayat who involves in major decision making regarding the public amenities which the people have to receive.
