hypotonic- if the concentration of water molecule is higher than the cell,then it is hypotonic
hypertonic-if the concentration of water molecule is lower than the cell,then it is hypertonic.

Hypertonic solution :- Hyper means in excess and tonic means lipid .. In Hyper tonic solution there is in excess of lipid . so if we put a cell in it . The water will travel from cell to the solution and the cell become flaccid . also called exosmosis . 

Hypotonic solution : - there is a lack of lipid in it . it has more water . so if we put a cell in it . The water will move from solution to the cell .. And the cell become swell . (Endosmosis)
