She had to work, she had to cook and maybe she had to work in the farm too. She had a phenomenal amount of work to do. No government holidays existed those days. You know.
Women's work is such that she had no holiday. These things are fixed so that she can have some rest. So 3–5 days in a month is a break for her, she doesn’t do anything. Those days, in her condition, it was difficult for her to do so much physical work. She needs rest.
In the past, the whole nation was a wildlife sanctuary. Animals can smell blood from a mile away. So you are risking her life. It's better if she stays indoor, locked in the room. But now, things have changed. We live in a city. But certain aspects have still to be respected.
And in the past, it was believed that there were certain types of temples where women were not supposed to go in such conditions as she was prone to attracting certain things which are unnecessary for her. In short, she was not supposed to interact with different forms of life.
So when women are menstruating, they were not allowed to go the kitchen, they cannot pray or visit a the just because no personal hygiene such as sanitary pads were provided to them and they were tired. This does not have any spiritual significance. So simply, people didn't want these bleeding ladies to take to the temple and wanted them to take rest. It is nothing to do with polluting god. Utter Rubbish.
