Begum Hazrat Mahal, also called as Begum of ahmedabad, was the second wife of Nawab Wajid Ali Shah. After her husband had been exiled to Calcutta, she took charge of the affairs in the state of Awadh and seized control of Lucknow. She also arranged for her son, Prince Birjis Qadr, to become Wali (ruler) of Awadh; However, he was forced to abandon this role after a short reign. She rebelled against the British East India Company during the Indian Rebellion of 1857. She finally found asylum in Nepal where she died in 1879

Tara rani Srivastava

Tara rani was an indian women fighter and was also a part of Mahatma Gandhi's quit India movement. She and her husband, Phulendu Babu, lived in the saran district of Bihar. In 1942, she and her husband were leading a march in Siwan, towards the police station when he was shot by police. She nonetheless continued the march, returning later to find that he had died. She remained part of the struggle for freedom until the country's independence five years later.

Moolmati

She belongs to a very humble background and was mother of freedom fighter Ram Prasad Bismill who was hanged by the British because of his involvement in the kokani conspiracy and and Manipuri conspiracy case. She was a simple women supported her son throughout the struggle for the freedom. On meeting Bismil before his hanging at the Gorakhpur jail, she was firm and told him that she is proud to have son like him.

The first woman to become the Chief Minister of an Indian state, Sucheta Kriplani founded the All India Mahilla Congress in 1940. A follower of Gandhian principles, Kriplani worked with Gandhiji during the partition riots as well as the independence movement.
