Answer:

In our country, from the very beginning, women have inadequate representation in politics and political institutions. Lok Sabha also has had inadequate representation of women. In the first Lok Sabha elected in the year 1951-52, there were 22 female MPs constituting 4.5% of the total strength of that Lok Sabha. In the 16th Lok Sabha elected in the year 2014, women representation increased marginally to 66 MPs constitutiing only 12.15% of the total strength. In the intervening 63 years there has been an increase of only 7.5% in women's represerntation in Lok Sabha.
