Wood is Xylem or sclerenchyma but it contains hard deposits of lignin and is hard si doesnot it should be called as a sclerenchyma???

xylem is wood and it shouldn't be called as schlerenchyma. The lignin deposition is uniform in sclerenchyma whereas it is non-uniform in xylem .Sclerenchyma offers only mechanical support while xylem is mechanical and it also helps in conduction
