Solution: When cut into pieces, the original 3 cm cube will have 27 smaller cubes of 1 cm sides. Of these 27 cubes

8 cubes will have black paint on 3 faces

12 cubes will have black paint on 2 faces

6 cubes will have black paint on 1 face

1 cube will have no paint on any of its faces.
