Wooden doors and windows swell up during the rainy season coz of imbibition.
<> Imbibition is becoming more in volume due to over absorbing of water by solids.
Hope dis helps

Wooden ‘doors and windows’ swell up during ‘rainy season’ because of a process known as imbibition.

‘Imbibition’ is a type of modified diffusion where water molecules are absorbed by solid particles known as colloids without forming as solution. This results in increase in volume of the solid substance.

During rainy season the humidity or the ‘moisture content’ of the atmosphere increases. This water is taken up by the hydrophilic wood and as a result, the volume of the ‘wood increases’.
