SOURCES:

Wool is the hair shorn from sheep. Sheep are not harmed when sheared, despite what you may see in PETA’s videos.

Hair from goats is called mohair unless it’s smaller in diameter than 19 microns, when it’s called cashmere.

Hair from angora rabbits is called angora.

Hair from bison is called quiviut.

Hair from dogs is sometimes called chiengora.

Sometimes fiber from other animals is called wool, as with llama wool, although the people who raise llama and alpaca in my neck of the woods more commonly call it fiber.

If the fiber is from the naturally-shed undercoat of an animal it’s often called down, as in camel down.

As a basic word, wool is sometimes used to denote the hair shorn from any fiber producing animal.

USES:

1) The most common usage is making winter clothes because this fibre is warm and thick enough to resist cold.
2) For making carpets.
3) For making blankets.
4) Wool is also used for making upholstery.
5) This fibre is also used for making different kind of insulation.
And many more.

Hope it helps you
