Answer:

While I think that the statement that all men are not just and true is a stereotype, I believe that the author is still hopeful because there is some recognition that the belief that ALL men (or humans, in general) is not true. I do firmly believe that there is a percentage of men that are just plain rotten (it’s the only word that popped into mind), I also firmly believe that the basic nature of man is good. It is through experiences, the family dynamic one was raised with, what type of parents one had (was there any abuse, neglect, constant fighting or substance abuse in the household,) etc. All of these have an effect on the way a person develops. Bad home situations typically, but not always, lead to difficult outcomes. Some men having come from seriously dysfunctional home situations grow up determined not to repeat the cycle. I know several who are wonderful husbands, companions, and parents.

It is these men I know personally and well that give me hope. My own fiance gives me hope daily. I am not an easy person to be in a relationship with. I have suffered from a great deal of emotional, mental, and verbal abuse mostly from my father and then from my ex-husband. I still remain hopeful that there are more men like my friends and my fiance because I simply cannot believe that all men are not just and true (even though there currently is some pretty strong evidence to the contrary.) The author of the question is still hopeful perhaps because it is not in them to give up?

That’s my answer.
