Question : Words of length 10 are formed using the letters A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, J. Find the numbers of words that can be formed with and without repetition.

Answer: With repetition, the ways would be 10^10 = 10000000000

Without repetition, the ways would be 10! = 3628800

1) Since, repetition is allowed any alphabet can come at any place i.e. each place has 10 possible choices, Hence there are 10^10 possibilities.

2) When, repetition is not allowed, wee can have ten choices for first place, then 9 choices for second place, 8 choice for third place...... 1 choice for last place.

Hence, the possible ways are : 10*9*8*7*6*5*4*3*2*1 = 10! =  3628800
