Proper Question

  • The area of the right angled triangle is 54 cm. If one of its legs is 12 cm long, find its longest side.

★Longest side = 15 cm

Given

  • area=54cm^2
  • One of the side = 12cm

Now

Let us consider base as 12cm and height as x

Now

  • Area = 1/2 *b*h
  • 54=1/2*12*h
  • 54=6*h
  • h =54/6
  • h=9

Now longest side of a triangle is always the hypotenuse

Finding Hypotenuse by pythagoros

  • a^2 +b^2 =c^2
  • 12^2 +9^2 =c^2
  • 225=c^2

Thus, c i.e longest side = 15 cm
