Question : Work out percentage composition of constituents elements in the following compound.

1. Lead phosphate [Pb3 ( PO4)2]

2.Potassium dichromate ( K2 Cr2 O2)

3.Macrocosmic salt - Sodium ammonium hydrogen phosphate , tectrahyrate

(NaNH4 HPO4.4H2O)

Answer:

a. Lead phosphate

given. Pb= 207, P = 31 , O = 16

Total mass of Pb3 (PO4)2

=3(207)+(31+4(16))

=621+(62+128)

=811

Percentage of Pb = 3(207)÷811×100

=76.57%

b. Similarly find for potassium dichromate

(K2 Cr2 O2)

Similarly find for p = 2× 31÷811×100

= 7.64%

c. Similarly find % of O = 4× 128÷811×100

= 15.78
