- It is the chloroplast present in parenchyma. It performs photosynthesis.
- In hydrophytes (aquatic plants) such as water hyacinth, hydrilla , large air cavities are present in parenchyma to give buoyancy to the plants. Such type of parenchyma are called aerenchyma.
- In xerophytes (arid plants) e.g., succulents (plants having fleshy parts) parenchyma acts as a water storage tissue.
