  1. It is the chloroplast present in parenchyma. It performs photosynthesis.
  2. In hydrophytes (aquatic plants) such as water hyacinth, hydrilla , large air cavities are present in parenchyma to give buoyancy to the plants. Such type of parenchyma are called aerenchyma.
  3. In xerophytes (arid plants) e.g., succulents (plants having fleshy parts) parenchyma acts as a water storage tissue.
