Given : Working time at the office of a man is represented by the shaded portion in a 24 hour clock,

To Find :  ratio of working hours to nonworking hours

Solution:

Clock of 24 hrs has been divided in 12 equal parts

Hence each part = 24/12 = 2 hrs

There are 3 shaded parts for Working time at the office

=> Working Time = 3 * 2  = 6 hrs

Non Working Time  = 24  - 6  =  18 hrs

ratio of working hours to nonworking hours = 6 : 18

= 1 : 3
