• He is revered in India as the country's founding father and is credited with developing and putting into reality the philosophy of Satyagraha, or the mass peaceful civil disobedience that opposes oppression.
• Because of her bravery during the Indian Mutiny of 1857–1858, Lakshmi Bai remains honoured today. Bai put up a valiant fight against the invaders while the Jhansi fort was under siege, and she refused to give up even after her troops were outnumbered. She successfully attacked Gwalior, but was later killed in battle.
• In the 1930s and 1940s, Nehru was a key figure in the Indian nationalist movement. He vigorously influenced India's development into a modern country in the 1950s by promoting parliamentary democracy, secularism, science, and technology. He kept India out of the Cold War's two blocs in foreign affairs.
• Lal Bahadur Shastri was regarded as a person of excellent moral character and intelligence. He had enormous inner strength, was kind and humble, and spoke in terms that the average person could understand. He was a man of vision who guided nations toward advancement and was greatly influenced by Mahatma Gandhi's teachings.
• Bhagat Singh was part in two notorious schemes against the British government in India that sparked the Indian independence movement. He participated in a plan to assassinate the Indian police officer in charge of Lala Lajpat Rai's fatal shooting in 1928.
