Millions of people around the world (including myself) live in towns and cities in deserts. They may be doctors, lawyers, nurses, teachers, merchants, delivery personnel, food workers, home makers, students, police, clergy. People living in deserts have pretty much the same occupations as people who do not live in deserts.
Most people who live in the desert are herders of sheep, goats, or camels. Some may do some type of subsistence farming if water is available.
