Subject: Holistic development of citizens
Respected Sir,
Recently, I attended a seminar on Holistic Development of Citizens and Youth, organised by Mindfulness Organisation at India International Center. The aim of the workshop was to guide all the participants to develop their IQ, EQ and spiritual quotient.
The seminar was ground breaking. According to the resource person Indians have a high intelligence quotient, but their emotional and spiritual quotient does not match it. There are several reasons behind this. The education system in our country is so rigid that it does not give scope for the individual to develop holistically.
The purpose of education is to create a well rounded individual, whose IQ, EQ and spiritual quotient is in place. The school system should change so that all the three factors of an individual are developed. Our education system is academic oriented, but it should also focus on other aspects. There should be more games and spiritual sessions for the development of students. Sports plays an important role in emotional development. Children who are into sports are more mature and they can handle adversities easily. Hence, the country needs to revamp its education system and focus more on holistic development.
At last I would like you to publish my views in your esteemed newspaper for the betterment of the citizens of our country.
